Monosiga brevicollis
The marine choanoflagellate Monosiga brevicollis was selected for genome sequencing because it is easily grown in a lab. It is also useful for phylogenetic study due to the fact that it represents one of the most primitive, or highest taxa known of their kind within the domain Eukarya.
